This work was inspired by many years of research and experiments
to control thermonuclear fusion and the development
of a magnetohydrodynamic generator which would work by the released energy. The PMHD-2N generator’s work is based on thermonuclear reactors and tokamaks.
A tokamak is a device that uses a powerful magnetic field to confine plasma
in the shape of a torus. The tokamak is one of several types of magnetic
confinement devices being developed to contain the hot plasma needed for
producing controlled thermonuclear fusion power. In the far future The following problems were solved:
— Interaction between plasma and the surface of the divertor
— controlling ELM (edge-localized mode)
— Discharge damping by loss of stability
— accumulation of impurities in the tokamak’s center
— accurate diagnostics of plasma under conditions of high thermal and radiation loads etc.

The object of study is the use of parametric modeling in a single CAD-product in the design of centrifugal compressors. The goal of work is to develop the algorithm of calculating the centrifugal compressor with the further introduction of its results in 3D solid model of the parameterized stage. Results are geometric parameters for each element of the stage. Calculation algorithm is adaptive which means the possibility of changing the number of stages in order to achieve the desired output parameters and the variability of choosing the type of the flow path: vaned or vaneless diffuser. As a result of the work the calculation method in the form of tables of input and output data in Microsoft Excel’s environment for an end user was developed. It was constructed preliminary model of a 3D impeller, a model of the flow path comprising a vaned diffuser and return channel vanes. In addition, it was also developed spatial blade’s profiling algorithm to optimize the gas-dynamic parameters. Based on the results of the work, it was implemented the parametric modeling system of a centrifugal compressor stage.

As part of the work in Microsoft Excel, it was created a calculation template that includes an ability to change the number of stages; a choice of the type of diffuser; a detailed demonstration of the calculation results with charts and pivot tables. In addition, it was implemented spatial blade profiling method based on fragmentation of the blade into 20 sections and further adjustment of the spline segments. This method is based on the intermediate angles’ deviation from the linear dependence; deviation may be set by the three developed mathematical functions; it was also added the capability of manual adjustment of angles by the user. There were created templates of three-dimensional parameterized models of compressor stage elements. These templates are fully prepared for CFD-study in all CAE-packages. This work confirms the fact of the effective use of CAD-systems as low-cost, simple-to-use software for parameterization of geometry of centrifugal compressor machines.
